Just before Christmas, I suffered a detached retina and had to undergo emergency surgery on Christmas Eve. As an HGV driver, this meant I was suddenly unable to work and was relying solely on statutory sick pay.
Almost overnight, I found myself worrying about how I would cover my household bills. It was an incredibly stressful time.
I contacted TTBS and they responded so quickly. They confirmed that an emergency grant would be paid to help cover my bills, which was an enormous relief.
Knowing that support was there lifted a huge weight off my shoulders and eased the financial pressure during a very difficult period.
I’ve now been told I can return to work at the end of February – the best news ever !
