This is Gary’s story:
I’ve worked all my life – 27 years in a timber merchants and 5 more in a builders merchants. Though most of my colleagues joked that I was “hardly working,” I took it in good humour. I knew what I brought to the table.
Then everything changed – I was diagnosed with severe MS. So when it all suddenly ended – when I still had another 15 years of working life ahead of me – it was heartbreaking.
My strength and mobility started to go. As a family, we thrived on the outdoors—walking the dog, going to the beach, woodland treks. Those moments were everything to us.
But suddenly, the equipment we had just wasn’t suitable anymore.
A very good friend of ours set up a GoFundMe. The goal ? To get an off-road powered wheelchair. Expensive, yes – but life-changing. Generous donations started to come in and and at one point reached 62% of the total needed, but then things began to fizzle out. Not because people didn’t care – far from it – but because they’d already done everything they could.
That’s when TTBS stepped in, they had been contacted by that same good friend who started the fundraiser and I was sceptical at first – TTBS helps older people, don’t they? I was only 53. But from the very beginning, Christella from TTBS stayed in constant contact. I could tell they were taking my situation seriously.
We are pleased to tell you that Gary has now taken delivery of his Trekinetic and loves it – as you can see from the photo and we wish him and his family many more memories made in the great outdoors.
